DAM user groups are defined sets of users that are used to manage access to assets. User groups can be associated with regions, roles, or organization or may be created ad-hoc as needed. Whenever possible existing user groupings such as distribution lists on our internal AMD Active Directory or existing user groups on our external Active Directory system should be leveraged to reduce time required to manage groups in ADAM.
Project Owners can request a new user group using the instruction found here. Before the ADAM team will create a new policy they will first evaluate it according to the following criteria:
- The user group must be unique and must not duplicate an existing security policy. One of the ADAM teams goals is to keep the number of security policies manageable by avoiding duplication of security policies.
- The user group must include a reasonable number of users.
- The user group must be useful for a reasonable amount of time.
