ADAM Frequently Asked Questions

Overview

Q: What is ADAM?
A: ADAM is an acronym for AMD’s Digital Asset Management System.

Q: What is the DAP?
A: The Digital Asset Portal (DAP) is an interface into the system intended for most users. You can find and download logos, collateral, images, multimedia, and marketing documents in the DAP.

Q: What is the DAM?
A: The Digital Asset Manager (DAM) is an interface into the ADAM system with robust features including advanced search, multi-asset download, and project-based assets. The DAM is intended for users who need to upload and/or manage projects in ADAM.

Training

Q: Is training available?
A: Training is currently available online on how to browse and search ADAM. This training can be accessed here. Training for asset contributors and project owners will be available online on Monday. Please check this site again for the training schedule. In addition, regularly schedule training sessions will be held on a weekly basis for all users beginning the week of July 7th.Login

Registration

Q: What is SSO?
A: SSO stands for Single Sign On. For AMD employees it uses your NT login. For non-AMD employees, it uses our new external SSO system. The external SSO is AMD’s initiative to secure access to online applications for (non-AMD) users with just one user ID and password.

Q: I registered via SSO, why do I have to register again on the DAP page?
A: SSO is a method to sign into a variety of applications. There is additional information needed to get an account set up in ADAM.

Q: I’m an AMD employee, why can’t I get into DAM through SSO?
A: AMD employees use their NT login to access the system so you must access ADAM from inside the network or VPN.

Q: If I’m logging into through SSO, why do I need a password to register for ADAM?
A: SSO will allow you to login to ADAM without a password after the initial registration. Entering a password for ADAM registration is just a function of the registration process- you will not need the ADAM password for subsequent logins.

Q: How do my partners/agencies get an account for ADAM?
A: You can provide your partners and agencies with the following link to register for both SSO and ADAM: http://www.amd.com/us/dam/Pages/default.aspx.

Using DAM

Browsing/Searching for Assets

Q: Why can’t I see any assets?
A: You can find assets using the Browse or Search functions within the DAP or the DAM.

Q: I’ve done a search, why can’t I see any assets (no results returned)?
A: Your search may be too narrow, or they may not be any assets that meet your criteria. Sometimes using the “*” as a wildcard before and after your search term(s) will help broaden your search. Please keep in mind that only basic corporate logos are in the system currently. The number of assets will increase as product groups begin to upload more assets.

Q: Why can’t I see all the Image Sub Type Choices when performing a search?
A: You have to select an “Image Type” first to see the sub-type values related to that type.

Q: Why do I see all the Image Sub Type values when I’ve already narrowed my search by Image type?
A: If you’ve already performed a search using those values, you have to refine your search (or do a new one) to change the values.

Downloading/Exporting Assets

Q: When I download an asset from the DAM, why do I get a blank pop-up window?
A: This happens in certain browsers as part of the browser’s download process. You will have to close the blank window manually.

Q: When I push the download button after I accept the licensing agreement, why do I have to download each asset individually?
A: A request to change this functionality in a future release has been submitted to the software vendor.

Uploading/Importing Assets

Q: How do I upload an asset?
A: You should take the Contributor training and be approved by a Project Owner in order to upload assets to the system. Please check the Support Schedule to register for training.

Projects

Q: What is a “Project”?
A: In ADAM, a “Project” is a collection of assets, users, and workflow inside of the system designed to meet a specific business purpose.

Q: How do you request a “Project” for my group of assets?
A: You or your AMD Project Owner can submit request for a new project by contacting the ADAM support team via email at adam.support@amd.com.

Asset Management

Q: Why can’t I see all the Image Sub Type Choices?
A: You have to select an “Image Type” first to see the values related to that type.

Q: Why do I see all the Image Sub Type values when I’ve already narrowed it down by Image type?
A: If you’ve already performed a search using those values, you have to refine your search (or do a new one) to change the values.

Q: Which link should I use, the Portal (DAP) or the Manager (DAM)?
A: The DAP is a quick and easy source to find and download logos, collateral, images, multimedia, and marketing documents. The DAM has robust features including advanced search, multi-asset download, and project-based assets. The DAM is intended for users who need to upload and/or manage projects in ADAM and requires training at the contributor or project owner level.

Support

Q: Who do I contact if I have a question or issue with ADAM?
A: Contact the ADAM support team by email at adam.support@amd.com.
